Applying for a replacement certificate

If your Foreign Birth Registration certificate has been lost or stolen you can apply for a replacement

Replacement certificates cost €20.

Please ensure that you have all the required documents listed below before you submit your application.

What you need

To apply for a replacement certificate you will require the following documentation:

  1. A fully completed application form (accessible at the link above)
  2. Original long form birth certificate (with both parents listed)
  3. Certified/notarised copy of details page of current passport
  4. Proof of address, e.g. utility bill
  5. Fee of €20, paid online

Applying for a parent’s/child’s certificate

If you wish to apply for a replacement certificate for your parent or child, you will need the documents listed below.

  1. A fully completed application form (accessible at the link above)
  2. Your original long form birth certificate
  3. The FBR holder’s original long form birth certificate
  4. The FBR holder’s original Civil Marriage Certificate
  5. The FBR holder’s original Death Certificate
  6. Proof of address for the FBR holder
  7. Proof of address for you
  8. Fee of €20, paid online
